36. The Kehi shrine, Tsuruga

For generations, beach sand was brought to the Kehi shrine when a traveling holy priest visited.  Basho composed a haiku describing the sand on the shrine  brightening with frost in clear moon light.

Tsu-ki ki-yo-shi         (clear moon light)

U-gyo-u no mo-te-ru    (the holy priest Yugyo brought)

Su-na no u-e           ( on the sand)

gClear moon light on the sand brought by holy priest who visited here.h
